Tatsuyuki Yokokawa is a photographer also known as Papa-chat Yokokawa. He has made books from the landscapes, living creatures, and small encounters found in Tokyo’s streets and everyday places.

Tokyo, la mare-chat is a photobook centered on a one-eyed cat encountered at a pond near the forest of Meiji Jingu, along with the other cats that gather around it. The book records the cats by the water, their relationships, and the changing atmosphere of the place through the seasons.

Set in a small corner of the city, the book traces the time and memory surrounding a single cat. Produced as a slipcased volume, it follows Tokyo, des boites d’allumettes in bringing together fragments of Tokyo through Yokokawa’s personal point of view.
