Tatsuyuki Yokokawa is a photographer also known as Papa-chat Yokokawa. He has made books from the atmosphere of Tokyo’s streets and everyday places, gathering images of landscapes, people, animals, and small traces of the city.
La terrine de Tokyo is a photobook composed around Tokyo, layering fragments of the city like the dish suggested by its title. Street scenes, people, and small moments from daily life are brought together as if forming strata of urban memory.
Like Tokyo, des boites d’allumettes and Tokyo, la mare-chat, the book approaches the city not as a grand landscape, but as an accumulation of details encountered through walking, looking, and chance meetings.
