Following Red String, which traced family memories in the wake of the artist’s parents’ divorce, this work expands its focus to the relationship between siblings. Bound by the strong ties of blood, siblings can at times also become the most distant of “strangers.” With a quiet gaze, the work explores this ambiguous distance and the relationships that continue to change over time.
The book adopts a unique structure, made from a single folded sheet in a modified A3 format (297 × 419 mm). Readers are free to rearrange the order and combinations of photographs and texts as they view the work. This bookmaking approach, which creates a different reading experience with each copy, is one of the defining features of the work.
Produced and sold for a limited time in conjunction with a 2015 exhibition, the work is now difficult to find. This copy is dead stock from the artist’s own archive and is signed by the artist.
