Jun Morinaga is a photographer born in Nagasaki Prefecture in 1937. Since the 1960s, he has continued to explore the possibilities of photographic expression, capturing nature, landscapes, and the passage of time from his own distinctive perspective through works such as River, Its Shadow of Shadows.
This book brings together photographs of waves that Morinaga continued to make over nearly half a century. Published by Kazetabisha in 2014, it was produced in a limited edition of 600 copies.
The photographs, each capturing a fleeting moment of waves encountered by the sea, are organized into chapters such as “Motion,” “Reflection,” “Variation,” “Creation,” and “All Things Change.” Through images of waves that constantly transform yet never appear in the same form, the book quietly observes the cycles of nature and the flow of time.
