Alexander Binder is a photographer based in Germany. Working with images that seem to exist between forests and night, light, dreams, and reality, he has presented photographic works marked by a mystical atmosphere.
Allerseelen is a photobook published by Morel Books in 2011. The title “Allerseelen” means “All Souls’ Day” in German, and the book is composed of photographs taken as if wandering through a forest.
Rainbow-colored light, unnatural glows, and deep forest landscapes overlap throughout the book, creating images that are real landscapes yet also appear like scenes from rituals or myths. This volume condenses Binder’s ongoing interest in darkness, light, dreams, and the mystical.
