Anna Fox is a British photographer born in 1961. Known as one of the leading figures in British photography since the 1980s, she has consistently addressed the unease found within domestic life, labor, gender, and everyday experience through vivid color photography and a sharp observational eye.
Cockroach Diary is a work based on a cockroach infestation that occurred in the shared London house where the artist was living. Composed of photographs and diary-style texts, the book records events from everyday life with humor and irony.
Through the unsettling presence of cockroaches, the book brings into view the home, communal living, bodily sensation, and the small confusions of daily life. It is a work that offers a glimpse into Anna Fox’s autobiographical practice.
