Osamu Kanemura is a photographer born in Tokyo in 1964. He has sharply captured the excessive amount of information and visual noise of the contemporary city, densely photographing signs, electrical wires, buildings, printed matter, and other elements that overflow the urban streets.
This book was produced in conjunction with Human Noise Amplifier, a performance event by Osamu Kanemura held at BLD Gallery in 2012. Organized by Ivan Vartanian of Goliga, the project involved participants directly in the production process, with each copy being bound individually.
At the venue, Kanemura photographed participants within a space where slides were being projected, and the resulting images were arranged chronologically to form the body of the book. Each participant was also photographed with a Polaroid camera, and the selected Polaroid was affixed to the cover before the book was bound, resulting in a unique copy each time. This book was created as a distinctive project in which photography, performance, and bookmaking intersect.
