Tokyo Bay Blues 1982–1984 is composed of photographs taken around the Tokyo Bay area between 1982 and 1984. Made while walking through waterfront zones undergoing landfill and redevelopment, the photographs capture urban landscapes in a state of transition, including industrial areas, warehouses, vacant lots, and seawalls.
Known for Yokosuka Story, Miyako Ishiuchi worked on this series in the Tokyo Bay area during the 1980s. Through photographs that observe traces left in the land and the changing face of the city, the book offers a glimpse of a waterfront landscape very different from the one seen today.
